Nancy Van Buren grew up in Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. She moved to South Carolina in 1977 as part of a long and successful career as a designer of children's wear. Upon retirement, she relocated to the Lowcountry coast of South Carolina and began to explore a new career in watercolor, painting, studying and taking workshops with many well-known instructors.
Van Buren's work now hangs in private collections from South Africa to Singapore. Her travels to all seven continents have greatly influenced her painting. Four trips to Africa have honed her figurative work, and the beauty of the coast is a constant source of inspiration. Van Buren is currently a member of the Georgetown Watercolor Society, the South Carolina Water Media Society, the Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild and the Sea Coast Gallery. She continues to explore her passion for art, concentrating on the watercolor medium. She accepts commissions selectively-- please contact for pricing.
